I've always loved sketchbooks. Sometimes those rough edges and harsh lines just... well... they just scratch an itch that 'finished art' can't. When things become too clean and measured - refined and smooth - they kind lose something for me.
Sketches are where the artist is most free. They know that they don't have to be 'right' yet. They can cut loose and let things just pour onto the page in a way that is supremely satisfying and I think that shows through. I think that people intrinsically know when they look at sketches just fun it can be to really just be in the moment as an artist.
This is just a small collection of the images I've found this most pleasing trait in here on DA.
